Clear aligners are a series of custom, transparent trays — each worn for about a week — that move teeth in small, computer-planned increments. Because they're removable, you eat whatever you like, brush and floss normally, and take them out for a big presentation or wedding photos. Because they're transparent, most people at arm's length simply don't notice them.
The discipline that makes aligners work is wear time: 20–22 hours a day, every day. Small tooth-coloured attachments (composite bumps bonded to certain teeth) give the trays grip for complex movements, and slim IPR polishing sometimes creates fractions of a millimetre of space between teeth.
